Spring Mini Swap Card

When ever a new mini catalogue is released, my uplines team (INKlings) have a card swap.  Of course, I have really gotten into these swaps now so I naturally said 'yes' and added my name to the list.

Here is my swap card!  I really like the colours I used here and how it all turned out.  I do have to thank the very talented Marelle Taylor for this.  Her post on her blog at the end of June about her Stamp A Stack FAQ was where this card originated from.

I stamped the butterfly in Old Olive on Very Vanilla cardstock and then cut it out.  It was only afterwards that I decided to add some Dazzling Diamonds to it.  Apart from paper piercing, I also seem to be into sponging my cardstock at the moment.  A phase I'm going through or just my stamping style evolving?!

Apology & Choo Choo Birthday

Oh my!  Has it really been just over a week since I last posted?!  I do apologise to my readers.  Nothing has happened and I have only made a couple of cards but I have just not felt like sitting down at the pc to do anything.  My desk has been a bit untidy and I find I cannot create in a mess.  I think having to deal with my 4yo and his 'attitude' has just been draining.  He starts school next year and boy, I cannot wait.  He is more than ready for it going by his behaviour.  My mother told me I drove her nuts the 6 months before I started school.

I have made some swaps cards and sent them in weeks ago but they aren't due until the end of next week and I don't want to spoil it for the girls so you will have to wait for that one!!  LOL.  I'm such a tease!!

Ooohhh, we bought a new car last weekend!  WOO HOO!!!  Since hubby started his new job, he has been driving to work so, that left me to rely on others to get Oliver to pre-school 2 days a week.  As much as I appreciated it, I also hated it because I felt like I was putting those people out.  I know that is not how they felt but I'm sure you understand what I am saying.  Anyway, now I don't have to rely on anyone and am happily taking Oliver to pre-school and also taking myself out to the shops, not to buy anything but just to get myself out of the house.

I have my friend Nicole and her two lovely boys staying with us for a week.  It has been 3 years since we saw each other as they have been living in Berlin, Germany since 2005.  Nicole's husband will be joining them soon (after he completes his course for work) in Paris!!  I am so hoping that Oliver will start to mimic the boys as they have such wonderful manners.  Oliver used to up until a few months ago!!  ARGH!

Ok, I have really bored you enough with my ranting.  Time to show you a card.

I made this card the other day because I had to send it in a hurry to make this person's birthday in time!!  Nothing like leaving it until the last minute.  I am really liking these colours and I think they will be used again and again.

I used my crimper on the piece of chocolate chip cardstock.  A bit of paper piercing and there you go.  You could change the colour scheme to make it girly as every kid likes going on a train ride.  As this is meant for a boy, I kept to these colours.

As you can see, I used dimensionals on the trains to bring them to 'life'.

I hope this little boy likes his card.

Happy Birthday To You

Last Friday night saw another team cyberstamp.  Ryn was the hostess this month and she set out 3 challenges for us all.  I haven't started the first challenge yet but I did get onto the second one which was to use:- Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Basic Black and Very Vanilla.  What a great opportunity to make a male card.

My hubby asked me to make a card for his father's birthday at the end of this month and seeing as they live in the UK, I thought I'd better get started as I like to allow 1 week for delivery to the UK.

This is what I came up with.  Look familiar at all??  It is the same sketch as my Christmas SAS cards.  I added the Riding Hood Red Pattern DSP along with another layer (basic black) underneath the image.

I paper pieced the image of the cupcake with DSP and added the fine supernova glitter.

P.S. - I'm on the home run now with only 10 weeks to go before baby arrives!!  Apart from MY clothes, I have my hospital bag ready to go as I am still predicting an early arrival.

Christmas SAS Cards

Yay, I've fixed my camera and finally been able to take a photo of the second design for my Christmas SAS being held on the 21st July at 7:30pm.

I have used exactly the same stamp sets as the first design HERE but a different stamp in the set.  The same cardstock is used as well.

Here is the first design.  There are still a couple of spots left for the class if you are interested in attending.  Please contact me either by phone or email by Tuesday 14th July to reserve your place.  You will need to travel to the Camden area of Sydney.

Merry Christmas

Remember my Christmas SAS card in the previous post HERE, well I decided to to another one but I also wanted to step it up a little.

I'm not sure you can actually see the dazzling diamonds properly in this picture but you will in the close up one!!  So I have added dazzling diamonds, a rhinestone brad as the star, I've sponged the edge of the very vanilla cardstock and I've also added some shading underneath the tree.

You can see the dazzling diamonds much better here.  So sparkly, aren't they?

Christmas Stamp A Stack (SAS)

Here is one of the cards for my first Christmas SAS.  I have yet to photograph the other design but my camera seems to be playing up so I want to have a look at it first to make sure the setting haven't been played with (by little 4yo fingers!!).

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day here in Australia is the 1st Sunday in September (this year being the 6th) and I know I am a bit early but I am trying to think ahead and maybe get myself sorted as September is when baby is due.  I'm also predicting that I will go into labour early......just a funny feeling I have.  BTW - we have found out the sex of the baby!  If you don't want to know, look away or don't read on any further (skip to the next paragraph)........we are having a GIRL!  I know a lot of people like to have a surprise, and while we weren't able to tell at the 18 week scan, I have since had another one and this time, it was obvious.  We found out with Oliver and I really wanted to be prepared with this one.  I just like being organised! LOL.  So Oliver will be a big brother to his sister!  I have already received a box of girl clothes from Janine who has been dying to know what I was having!  LOL.  Thanks Janine.  My other friends who have had girls are also wanting to give me their clothes as they have finish having children.  It is good to know so many generous friends.

I made this card from Keesha's sketch challenge HERE.  I'm not 100% sure I like it though.  I didn't quite know where I was going with this and maybe the colours are not quite right.  Anyway, I have done it and it will go into my sample box for now.

Ok, so I stopped typing and went back to my card and decided to do some doodling and it looks much better.  I even took another photo for you to compare the two.

I am happier with this look than the previous boring one.  I may yet do more to it but for now, this is it!  LOL

Welcome, Little One - It's A Boy

My best friend's brother & his wife had a baby boy 6 weeks ago now!  Wow, that has gone fast.  Anyway, last weekend, the proud grandparents had a small party to welcome baby Lachlan and to meet him.  As I hadn't managed to get out to see Lachlan yet, I was more than happy to be invited.  He is adorable too.  So, naturally I had to make a card.  I used the same sketch from THIS post for this card.  It is such a fun and easy sketch to use.  You'll no doubt be seeing a lot of this.

Gosh, my photos aren't turning out very clear are they?  This one is a little blurry so sorry about that.  I was in a bit of a hurry making this and getting it photographed so this will teach me to make things in advance and take my time!  LOL.

I'm on a roll....another sketch challenge completed!!  Woo hoo!

If you are at all worried about joining in sketch challenges.....don't be!  The sketches are open for your interpretation.....meaning you don't have to keep your card to the same scale, your card can be either portrait or landscape or you can add as many or as little embellishments as you like.  I kept my card to the standard A6 size (A4 cardstock cut in half and then folded in half) so it is a smaller scale to Jen's.  Give it a go and after all, it is only paper - you can always make another one!!

Yay, I finally got around to doing a sketch challenge!!  Woo hoo.  This one is from Taylored Expressions TECC73.  I love doing Taylor's sketches, they are always so fun.

I finally opened my Bella Rose DSP (pg 134 Idea Book & Catalogue).  How nice are these papers - I just love them.  I teamed them up with the Friends 24-7 stamp set that I received FREE during this years Convention in Canberra.
