I'm Home!

I have been home for a week but have not been on the pc very much at all and absolutely no stamping.  I have ordered some cardstock so I can start on my Christmas cards and my dear friend Kari sent me a lovely gift too - I will photograph the gorgeous card she sent with the gift and post it here (hopefully today but the sun in not shining here in Sydney so it may be tomorrow).  To be honest, I just haven't been able to get into the swing of things.

The weather has been a bit weird.  The day we landed it was freezing, windy and raining.  I thought we must have boarded the wrong plane at Hong Kong and went back tothe UK!  LOL.

I know that Halloween is not a 'big' thing here but as Oliver is old enough to understand we are having friends over on Saturday for a kiddy Halloween party.  Now before you say "Halloween is on Friday, not Saturday" - some of the families already have things planned for Halloween so the kids can have 2 days of fun.  I cannot find Halloween cookie cutters anywhere and I think it would be too late now to order online so we will be making our own.  I'm not entirely sure how they will turn out and I knew I should have bought the ones I saw in the UK before we left.  Always the way!  I have been out and bought some decorations and goodie bags so the kids should have some fun while the adults chat, drink and eat!  Sounds good!

Another One!

Well, by the time this post goes live, I will be just setting off up in the air on my way back to Sydney, Australia.  Oh yes, I'm on a jet plane!  LOL.  I'll be 'down under' in 2 days.

Love Note Birthday (sort of!)

This was one of Beate's sketch challenges a while ago.

Beate's card was 3x3 but I ended up making mine 4x4.  I was not used to the 3x3 size and it felt a little small to me.  I'm sure I will get used to it - I'll just have to make more!  LOL

It's My Turn.....part 2

It is time for challenge 2.

This time I went for a sketch challenge and who else should I go to but Taylor. 

I haven't been able to participate in Taylor's challenges of late but once I am back in Sydney and all sorted, I will do my best to get back into them.

I chose THIS sketch for the challenge today.  Play along too if you like.

 

I'm so sorry that these photos don't seem to be as crisp as they normally they are.

Can you see the fluffy bits on the hat?  I added dazzling diamonds too to make it sparkle.  I would not normally use this stamp as a christmas card but.....you know what is coming don't you.....this is one of the selected sets that you can get for 20% less if you spend $20 on regular products from the catalogue.

Again, my colouring isn't very good and I stupidly forgot that I had the bold brights crayons tucked away.  Actually, they were buried under some stuff! I will use them next time.  Promise!

I will tell you what challenge 3 on this post as I haven't been able to start it and I've had to pack away my stamping stuff.

Challenge 3 is totally up to you what you make but it has to be the chosen colours.  If you don’t have Real Red use Rose Red/Ruby Red?

• Make a card or scrapbook page in traditional Christmas colours – Red, Green & Gold (if  you are embossing) with white or cream if that helps.

It Is My Turn.....

.....to host the monthly challenges with my fellow INKlings.  The INKlings are my upline Jayne's team and each month someone will be the hostess with the mostess.  3 challenges are set and luckily we don't have a time limit on each challenge (I would never make it!)  LOL.

Today's challenges are all about 'Christmas'.  I'm pretty sure most of you have at least started making your Christmas cards.  Not me though because I have other things going on at the moment and I am not home, so I thought getting into the Christmas fever would be good.

So my first challenge to everyone (you can join in too, just link your project in the comments section) was to make a 'Pocket Card'.  The wonderful Beate  wrote a tutorial on SCS so this is where my inspiration comes from.

Don't forget it has to be Christmasy but not necessarily in traditional Christmas colours and this is what I came up with!  How did I do?

I'm very much a traditional coloured girl when it comes to Christmas although I did make a blue Christmas card HERE to see how it would look in a different colour.

Inside the pocket card in the greeting or if you want to make it an invitation.

I meant to have the stripes going vertically but after I cut out the DSP I realised I cut it the wrong way - oh well!  LOL

So have a go at this one and let me know so I can check it out.

Look What I did!

Oh yes, it is a scrapbook page!!  WOW!

My friend Nicole set up a group on Facebook to do scrapbook pages.  Nicole asked her friends who would be interested in joining and I straight away put my hand up.  I love making cards but I also wanted to start scrapbooking all the photos we have of Oliver - ok, so maybe not ALLof them (there are too many to count!) but also of our wedding and my family.  This group would be a great opportunity for me to learn more about scrapbooking as well.  If you have been following my blog, you will know that I am not a scrapper at all.  I think I have only ever done 2 pages HERE & HERE. 

This month see's the start of the group with the challenges being monthly - be that a sketch, theme or colour. 

October's challenge is a sketch.  Yes I know that there are supposed to be 4 small photos along the bottom but I couldn't print them any smaller on the pc without needing a magnifying glass to see them!  LOL  So, I only have 3.  I don't think the girls in the group will mind.

I thought I would start on my wedding photos - yes that is me (back when I was blonde).  I wanted todo a page with my two bridesmaids and to keep with 'the girls' theme, I thought having the main  photo with my mum was a great idea.

Here is the sketch.

I challenge you to give it a go!  Upload your page to your blog or a forum that is accessible to all and link your page in the comments.  Simple.

P.S. - The house repairs are coming along nicely except the roof repairs!  Hasn't been the greatest of weather so we are getting on with the inside of the house (replacing tiles etc) and hoping for a couple of sunny days to finish off the roof.  The house just needs a bit of a make-over!  We have had to extend our stay so we will now leave in two weeks from this coming Monday!  It is getting very cold over here now so I'm really looking forward to the lovely Sydney warm weather to thaw me out!  LOL
