Happy Father's Day

Father's Day here in Australia is the 1st Sunday in September (this year being the 6th) and I know I am a bit early but I am trying to think ahead and maybe get myself sorted as September is when baby is due.  I'm also predicting that I will go into labour early......just a funny feeling I have.  BTW - we have found out the sex of the baby!  If you don't want to know, look away or don't read on any further (skip to the next paragraph)........we are having a GIRL!  I know a lot of people like to have a surprise, and while we weren't able to tell at the 18 week scan, I have since had another one and this time, it was obvious.  We found out with Oliver and I really wanted to be prepared with this one.  I just like being organised! LOL.  So Oliver will be a big brother to his sister!  I have already received a box of girl clothes from Janine who has been dying to know what I was having!  LOL.  Thanks Janine.  My other friends who have had girls are also wanting to give me their clothes as they have finish having children.  It is good to know so many generous friends.

347

I made this card from Keesha's sketch challenge HERE.  I'm not 100% sure I like it though.  I didn't quite know where I was going with this and maybe the colours are not quite right.  Anyway, I have done it and it will go into my sample box for now.

Ok, so I stopped typing and went back to my card and decided to do some doodling and it looks much better.  I even took another photo for you to compare the two.

348

I am happier with this look than the previous boring one.  I may yet do more to it but for now, this is it!  LOL

Welcome, Little One - It's A Boy

346

My best friend's brother & his wife had a baby boy 6 weeks ago now!  Wow, that has gone fast.  Anyway, last weekend, the proud grandparents had a small party to welcome baby Lachlan and to meet him.  As I hadn't managed to get out to see Lachlan yet, I was more than happy to be invited.  He is adorable too.  So, naturally I had to make a card.  I used the same sketch from THIS post for this card.  It is such a fun and easy sketch to use.  You'll no doubt be seeing a lot of this.

346a

Gosh, my photos aren't turning out very clear are they?  This one is a little blurry so sorry about that.  I was in a bit of a hurry making this and getting it photographed so this will teach me to make things in advance and take my time!  LOL.

Friendship

350

I'm on a roll....another sketch challenge completed!!  Woo hoo!

350a

If you are at all worried about joining in sketch challenges.....don't be!  The sketches are open for your interpretation.....meaning you don't have to keep your card to the same scale, your card can be either portrait or landscape or you can add as many or as little embellishments as you like.  I kept my card to the standard A6 size (A4 cardstock cut in half and then folded in half) so it is a smaller scale to Jen's.  Give it a go and after all, it is only paper - you can always make another one!!

Friends

Yay, I finally got around to doing a sketch challenge!!  Woo hoo.  This one is from Taylored Expressions TECC73.  I love doing Taylor's sketches, they are always so fun.

349

I finally opened my Bella Rose DSP (pg 134 Idea Book & Catalogue).  How nice are these papers - I just love them.  I teamed them up with the Friends 24-7 stamp set that I received FREE during this years Convention in Canberra.

349a

Below is Taylor's sketch, why not play along.

Carousel Notes Purse Book

I have had this sitting on my desk for weeks now and still not finished it - naughty me!

342

I know, it looks finished, but it isn't.  There are two small panels on the inside that are not complete so I haven't taken a photo of the inside, but you can see the tutorial HERE and get an idea of what mine should look like!  LOL.  I just love the DSP (Sweet Always) and as the envelopes used are in chocolate chip, I used matching DSP.

342a

The carousel notes don't come in regal rose so I traced one onto regal rose cardstock and cut it out by hand.  A little fiddly but it worked.  I also paper pierced along the edge to step it up a little.

342b

You can see that gorgeous flower brad (new to the catalogue this year).  I've also used a rhinestone brad in pumpkin to hold it in place.  Even though I made the bow, I felt it needed something else - flower brad to the rescue!

Another Purse Box

344

I had so much fun making the other purse box that I decided to make another one.  Only this time, a little bit bigger.  The template tells you to enlarge by 133% but who has a printer that will print on 12" x 12" paper - NOT ME!!  So after a bit a fiddling and pasting, I made my enlarged template.  Phew!  I'm sure there is an easier way to do this but as I was in a hurry (well I just wanted to make it), this was how I went about it.  My template was by no means perfect.  In fact, it had two scallop end flaps - "what?", I hear you say!  I couldn't get the template to flip but I knew that I just had to cut off the flap on one side.

Now, in the process of this, after temporarily adhering my template onto my DSP, I cut off the wrong side......so, after just explaining to you all I had to do, I cut off the wrong end! ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!  What was I going to do?  First I thought I'd ruined it and I would have to throw it out, so I left it overnight or two.  Then, my friend Karen came over to do some scrapbooking and I felt creative again.  By this stage, I had seen Lin Mei's purse box and she had made some modifications and I thought it looked stunning.  Then, the old brain had that 'light bulb' moment!! Woo hoo - my 'ruined' purse box was saved!!!  Thanks, Lin Mei.

344a

You can see here that the top of the purse is flat.  I cut some bashful blue cardstock and adhered it to the back of the purse first, then adhered the flap that I accidentally cut off to the other side of the cardstock which I had pre-scored 1/4" from each side.  I also traced the flap onto more bashful blue cardstock (minus approx 1cm) to layer that over the DSP.  I think it turned out pretty well - just another "happy accident"!

343

Here is the original template.  You can see the top of the purse is not flat but in a "V" shape.

345

Here they are together!  Don't they make a lovely couple?!  LOL

Challenge number three is: Make a card using kiwi kiss, kraft, baja breeze and basic grey.  I've yet to start this one.

Happy Stamping,

Purse Box

343

This purse box was challenge number two from Fiona.  The template is from the patterns library on the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website.  Just another perk for being a demonstrator.  Why don't you join up too?  Ask me how.

You can print the template straight onto your DSP or cardstock.  You then score along the marked lines and cut it out.  Some people find it easier to score first, then cut while other's will cut first and then score.  Put your adhesive on and stick together.  I traced the scalloped flap on some tangerine tango cardstock then adhered it on top of the DSP flap - just to make it stand out more.

Matching Pizza Box

Gosh, I think it must have been last year some time when I first made this pizza box from Jen del Muro.  It is soooo cute.  Jen does weekly sketch challenges which I used to do all the time but haven't been able to for such a long time now and I really miss them.  Half the time I have forgotten that they are on but I am going to try and get back into them so then I will have more to share with you.  That could be a good thing or a bad thing!  LOL

341

You can see how it all matches (what I LOVE!).  I forgot to take a photo of the box open but you can find the tutorial on SCS HERE.  I have yet to add anything to the box but some socks or something similar will fit.

341a

A better view of the box.

341b

I have used the hostess stamp set 'punches three' with the wide oval punch to decorate the top of the box.  I also used my dauber to colour in the flower (which is you can only half see) in riding hood red ink.  I kept one flower white from the pretties kit and coloured the other one as I just said.

Welcome, Little One

I have missed the last few cyberstamp nights that the INKlings have held and I didn't want to miss this one which, was held last Sunday and hosted by Fiona.  Thanks Fiona for a fun night and great challenges.

The first challenge was a sketch from HERE.  I knew straight away what kind of card I was going to make.  Dani, a fellow INKling had a baby girl last Friday and I really wanted to make something for her.  This is it.

340

I am in love with this card and how it turned out.  I think I will have to make another one just to keep for myself.  LOL

340a

I stamped my 'Wild About You' animals in Riding Hood Red and then used my 1" punch to cut out only part of the image.  I layered them on Pink Pirouette and tapped my Riding Hood Red dauber around the edges to make it stand out more.  I think it worked!

I'll be back later with the second challenge.

Chloe

336

My friends little girl is turning 1 soon and this is the card I made for her.  I borrowed Nicky's jumbo outline alphabet set when she was here stamping with me a few weeks back and stamped onto some DSP to spell 'Chloe'.  I still have chipboard from the last catalogue so I used the number 1 and inked it up with Riding Hood Red.  Then, I used my stickles to add some bling.

336a

A close up of the bling!!  I just had to use it for a girls card didn't I?

This is a simple card and a quick card to make too.  A good one to make if you need a card in a hurry (apart from the cutting of the letters).

Hold Onto Your Hats......

.........I've been scrapbooking - well, 1 page!  LOL.  It is a start.

339

I made this for my mum for her birthday.  For some strange reason, I have been itching to do a page.  Those of you who are regular readers of my blog, will know that I am not a scrapbooker at all! Yes, I have done 3 pages previously (which were ruined in our move) and I haven't done any since.  I think I was too devastated to start again.  As you can see, the in-colours match my son's bedding perfectly.  Yes, he is actually asleep in this photo.  LOL.  I have found him sleeping in all sorts of positions over his 4 years (even on the floor!) so when I saw this, I got hubby to grab his camera.

339a

I used my stickles again for the large stars and I don't think you can see very well in these photo's but I have used my paper crimper on the whisper white cardstock after running my stars jumbo wheel on it.

339c

I've had fun using the in-colour ribbons and the new 'buttons' from the catalogue.  The small stars on the pacific point 12" x 12" cardstock have crystal effects on them, which makes them look darker than what they were originally.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my scrapbook page.

Blog Candy.....no go!

Well it seems that no one wants to win some blog candy!  I don't know if I should take this personally or not!!  Did I need to be more specific what it would be??  It would have been SU! stuff of course.  I do have a stack of non-SU! papers that are just sitting here (mostly Basic Grey) but I'm not sure I'm ready to give those up yet.

I'm getting a lot of traffic so I know you are reading or maybe just looking at my blog.....don't be shy....leave a comment, even if it is just to say 'hi'.  We Aussies are a friendly bunch and I always reply to any comments left (sometimes, it just takes a couple of days).

Hope you are having a lovely weekend.  The weather here in Sydney has been pretty cold.  I even had a pj day with my 4 year old on Wednesday because it was soooo cold.  Naturally, a delivery came and I'm sure we looked a sight when I opened the door!  LOL.  Oh well.  At least we were warm.

So Glad We're Friends Box

337

I found this project on Dawn's blog and just had to give it a go!  You can click HERE to see the tutorial.  It will hold around 6 cards and envelopes so it would make a lovely gift for someone.

337a

I thought I would use the new in-colours (I should stop saying 'new' as the in-colours have been around for a few months now!!).  I'm really loving this blue (Pacific Point), even though I am a 'pink' girl, in real life, this blue is stunning.  So vibrant.

Card & Blog Candy

338

Another quick card I whipped up.  I didn't realise that it was my friend's husband's birthday last week so when they invited us for drinks for his birthday.........well, I thought, we can't turn up there with nothing, so I made this card for him.

I used the Windsor Knot DSP and adhered it to chocolate chip cardstock then ran it through my paper crimper. TIP: if you want your strip to cover your base card, cut about a cm more (i.e. the width of the base card is 14.5cm, so cut your DSP and coordinating cardstock at approx 15.5cm or even a little more).  As you can see, I have a small gap on each side but that was my "happy accident"!  Who hasn't had them?!

338a

I raised the sentiment with some dimensionals and wiped my inkpad (chocolate chip) around the edge.  Yes, I have used this sentiment again - I told you it would get used a lot!!  LOL

BLOG CANDY TIME:  tell me about a "happy accident" you've had and I'll pick out 1 or maybe 2 winners.  You've got until Friday (12th June) to play!  I cannot wait to read your answers.

EDITED TO ADD: open to Australian residens ONLY!

Happy Stamping,

Thinking Of You

It is a bank holiday here in Australiaknown as the 'Queen's Birthday Long Weekend' and also the official start to the ski season.  We are thinking of taking Oliver skiing this year to see how he goes - obviously, I won't be skiing (not at 7/8 months pregnant!!) - oh yes, can you see me now flying down the slopes with a huge belly on me!  ROFLOL.

We are heading out for lunch today with the family for my mum's birthday on Wednesday.  We are going to Pancakes on The Rocks and they have a store open in Campbelltown (mum and I found it and ate there when she had her last cardiologist appointment at the private hospital a few weeks ago!).  Yummy!  I can recommend going there for a bite to eat but you won't want anything to eat for the rest of the day!  LOL.

Okay, on to the card........

335

This is a gorgeous card that Nicky made.  Unfortunately, it is one of those cards you never hope to make but will need to from time to time - a sympathy card.  A close relative had passed away and Nicky didn't have this set so while she was over last week, she was madly stamping away using my stamps.

335a

I really love what Nicky did on the inside of the card.  Just gorgeous!

Birthday Celebrations

My roomie from convention, Nicky came over on Tuesday to stamp!  I showed her what I was currently working on and she made a few cards.  Over the next few days, I will show you what we were doing (apart from chatting and eating chocolate mudcake!!).

334

Nicky used the new in-colour of Tangerine Tango along with her favourite, Pumpkin Pie.  Can you tell she is an orange girl?!

334a

Don't adjust your monitor!  LOL.  Here you can see the shadow effect.  Nicky has used the Pumpkin Pie ink underneath and the Tangerine Tango on top.  Some dazzling diamonds would also look great for a bit of bling on the flowers.

This photo didn't come out all that clear so I'm sorry about that.  I made this for my new recruit, Brenda who decided to join me doing what we love doing - stamping!  Brenda is a fantastic scrapbooker so I might just be able to get some pointers from her and maybe do some more pages!!!  LOL.  Welcome Brenda!
